General Roleplay Rules

Roleplay will be done via local chat / . You do not have to roleplay with everyone. If you do not wish to roleplay with certain characters, you do not have to. However, there should be an in-game reason you create in order to keep things flowing story-wise.

When roleplaying please wait a reasonable amount of time to allow your fellow player to form a response to you. However, please also respect others' time and do not take forever to respond. If no response is given after some time, the other person can assume they have gone afk and/or are experiencing issues, etc. and may leave the roleplaying interaction. Just try to be courteous.

You may use third person roleplay text if you wish. For Example: She lowers her head and whispers under her breath

If something can be discussed via roleplaying it should be done in-game instead of in the Discord.

You may roleplay out of the game via the ⁠community-board and ⁠raven-rp channels in the Discord.

Do not play in a way that does not make sense, breaking character, or otherwise doing something not suitable for the world.

Do not use real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game or secrets about another’s character or story.

Your character only knows what they have experienced in game and through in-character communication.
You cannot use information gathered outside of the game.
You cannot use UI information your character hasn't experienced.

(OOC) Out of Character Communication

Do not go out of character while in-game. Out of Character chat/talk should be kept to Discord.

Game breaking issues or problems must be addressed within RP, and later reported in ⁠support-tickets.
Usage of "OOC:" brackets in text-chat is acceptable only **occasionally**. Excessive ooc chat will cause a player to receive a warning. Use of emoji or chat speak such as lol, rofl, lmao, brb, is also not acceptable.
If you are having technical issues with hearing other players, here are some examples you can use to stay in character: "Forgive me friend, it seems my ears are blocked - give me a moment to unblock them." And if you are experiencing bugs i.e. invisible or broken items: "Ahh! Something must be playing tricks on my eyes! I cannot see what you refer to."

Character Lore

Your post to ⁠the character-lore channel should be in-line with the information posted in ⁠the server-lore and reflect your character. If it isn't, an Admin/Mod will ask you to change it or it will be removed.

What is shared in character lore should be considered meta and cannot be used in-character as knowledge. Please follow this format when posting your character lore:

Major server events are posted in ⁠server-lore and this information should be treated as “common knowledge”. This means your character may know some or all of the information posted. This is used for major events such as the establishment of towns/guilds, challenging a Forsaken, or the account of a major event where it is significant enough that everyone probably knows.

Towns & Guilds | Server Progression | Value of Life | Banned Roleplay

Formed by players in-character. There must be at least 3 active members to be recognized.

Town: A physical location of several buildings in the same area. Must appoint one leader to be the acting Jarl for the town. The town's Jarl can coordinate with Admins OOC on town growth/additions.

Guild: A group of people with a common goal, job, or interest. Must have an identified OOC spokesperson for Admin coordination. A discord role will be made for the town/guild.

Each town/guild follows the same building rules as players and may have two main areas and three associated outposts.

All crafting stations/crafting improvements/items/weapons/gear/armor/tames/etc. up to and including the current Age of the world are legal. Anything else above the current age is illegal. No exploration, gathering, etc. is to occur at all in any biome above the current Age.

If you have anything illegal, you must get rid of it immediately or contact an Admin/Mod. Holding on to illegal items will result in a warning or temp ban with the length of ban being subject to Admin discretion. Second offenses will be either a temp or permanent ban.

The server is set up in a way to promote a slow game progression and emphasis is put on roleplay (obviously) and living in the world. This is set by the following: Bosses, Biomes, and the items that are illegal/legal as listed above.

All tames must be contained within a pen/building or a fenced off/walled off base area and should not be allowed to wander freely around the world just as in real life.

Bosses that have been killed in a community event are okay to kill again, but if you summon a boss, you must kill it, ask for help in a distress raven, or make a ticket and an Admin will remove the boss so it doesn't wreak havoc on the server.

Do not fight someone without roleplaying. In order to attack someone there has to be direct confrontation with roleplaying dialogue before the fight begins. PVP should only be done in a duel format where both parties agree. If not, move on.

You must value your life and make decisions accordingly. You can't just kamikaze / bull rush everything without fear. Your character needs to have some limits and act somewhat realistically.

Example 1: You know there is good loot in a chest but it is guarded by mobs way above your level and you have no chance of surviving.

Example 2: The next island is quite far but you don't have a boat. You cannot just swim and hope for the best. You need to value your life enough to not throw it away swimming. You should be sure you can make it.

Erotic and sexual roleplay is not allowed in game. Relationships and public displays of affection are allowed everywhere.
