Be kind, respectful, and a decent person (No griefing, destroying other people's builds/things, stealing, etc.) If caught doing so, you will be given either a warning, temporary 3 day ban, or a permanent ban.

Macros, exploits, and excessive metagaming are NOT allowed and will be considered a form of cheating on the server that will result in either a warning, a temporary 3 day ban, or a permanent ban.

Boss progression is determined by the Admin(s). An announcement will be made when the next Forsaken will be challenged. This ensures that the server will progress at a steady rate and gives time to enjoy the different “Ages” of the game (Bronze, Iron, etc.).

Server updates will be posted as needed. There will be announcements in the announcements channel on the Discord to relay info on maintenance and other matters.

Portals are allowed on all servers. A limit of 10 (5 sets/pairs) portals per player will be enforced to encourage strategic placement of portals and further exploration by sea as well. Admin built portals may be put up for events, custom locations, or for admin generated dungeons.

All tombstones can only be accessed by the tombstone's owner. If it's not yours, don't touch it.

There is a class system for the server based on the real Norse Viking class system. Jarls and Thanes consist of the Admins/Mods. Karls consist of players that have proven to be trustworthy, friendly, and helpful on the server. Hardcore Vikings will be players of the hardcore server. Vanilla Vikings will be players of the casual server.

A whitelist will be maintained for all players to prevent toxic online behaviors and to secure the servers.

Character Creation

Please create a new character for each world and only one character is allowed per server.

Change your nickname for this server to match your character’s name in Discord accordingly, please.

Character creation guidelines are as follows:

You can only have one active character at a time - the creation of a new character requires the rendering of your previous character lost, killed, exiled, etc.

You cannot use modern / meme / god names / titles. Pick a Viking, Roman, Greek, Arabic, Asian, etc. name that would fit into an ancient/medieval setting or the theme of the world.

Must be unique and not the same as anyone else

Your name must fit in-game.
Professions
-
To add to the element of roleplaying on the server, each character should "specialize" in something. This could be cooking, blacksmithing, mining, sailing, hunting, mercenary work, etc. How you choose to include that into your character is up to you!
Building
-
Try to build at least just out of sight of other players’ homes, if possible.

Instances, which is the metric used for building, should at max be 12k. If your build/town causes consistent performance issues for others, you may be asked to make changes. You will always be contacted first and given time to make changes, if necessary.

You can check instances by pressing “F2” and looking at the menu in the top left corner. It’s recommended to keep this under 10k.

Each player may have a total of TWO bases/houses and THREE outposts. Use abandoned buildings for temporary shelter when exploring or take down whatever you put up, if over the limit.

If you move, you must destroy your old building(s). If the building belongs to a town or group, the property does not need to be destroyed, it is the responsibility of the group.

No building in the boss alter areas.

You may build bridges as long as they are connected to/within your base and/or outpost. (If you build a bridge in the world, it may be subject to being dismantled if it blocks a waterway.)

Do not utilize "earth walls" by using the hoe or moats by digging with a pickaxe. All defenses must be naturally utilized (such as a cliff) or player-built. This is to help make the landscape more aesthetically pleasing and natural.

Please cut down your stumps when gathering wood! No one wants to run around the server with stumps everywhere.
Public Locations

Public locations are Admin designated neutral zones. The location is managed by the Admins, please don't mess them up. This includes: Spawn area, Admin generated structures w/ story elements, and all boss altars.

You are not allowed to take items or modify builds in the areas created by Admins without direct permission from an Admin.
Admin Built Dungeons & Ruins

Non-generated dungeons built by Admins do not respawn automatically. Please notify the Jarls/Admins when you have cleared an Admin generated dungeon.

You may not use a hammer or pickaxe inside a dungeon unless explicitly given permission via a sign or instruction from an admin NPC.

Please do not use AOE inside of dungeons, unlike generated prefabs AOE can damage the structure.

You may only take loot from inside chests. Do not take decorations or destroy parts of the dungeon for the materials.

You may come across ruins or other structures in the world which may contain story elements, quest clues and/or monsters. Unless there is a sign on the doorway, you are not permitted to destroy or take decorations from the ruins. You may kill the monsters. Please leave the place intact so others might enjoy finding it.

Marked structures with this symbol <.> may be claimed, rebuilt and lived in and treated like any other abandoned structure.
Server Support & Moderation

Important information about the server will be updated/posted in the server-updates and announcements channels on the Discord.

If you have any issues or need any help on the server, an Admin or Mod will be happy to help you. Just visit support-tickets or roleplay-tickets and select the appropriate ticket. Support will initially be provided via text, but voice chat can be utilized as well if requested and possible at the time.

Please reference server-info, server-updates, announcements, the rules channels, and the guides channel if you're having trouble with anything. Then, if you're still having issues you may contact an available Jarl (Admin) or Thane (Mod) if you need further assistance.

If you experience any harassment or are aware of any negative/toxic behavior in-game while you are playing, please press "F2" and take a screenshot of the player's Steam ID/ Xbox ID. Create a report by submitting a "Player Conduct Report" found in support-tickets about what occurred along with accompanying screenshots. The Admin(s) will determine what appropriate action should be taken, if required. Substantial evidence must be provided. You will be informed of the final decision regarding the matter.

If you're consistently being reminded of the rules in-game by Admins/Mods or are found to be breaking them, you will be taken off the whitelist temporarily for 3 days. If it continues to occur, you will be banned from the Discord and put on the ban list for the server permanently.

You are responsible for knowing ALL rules on the server! Read the rules, and if you're unsure, create a ticket in support-tickets or contact an available Admin / Mod, please.

Vebjorn (Owner/Admin) is the only Admin with the authority to ban and approve ban appeals, unless another Admin / Mod is directed to do so.

Admins are under no obligation to give warnings before bans. Blatantly not following the rules will result in a temporary 3 day or permanent ban. This is decided on a case by case basis by a panel made up of the Owner/Admin, and one other Admin and Mod that will discuss each ban case.

If you feel you have been banned wrongfully, feel free to appeal by submitting a "Ban Appeal" ticket located in support-tickets.

If you decide to be toxic in the Discord and slander the server, the owner, and/or any of the Admins/Mods you will be permanently banned. This is all to protect the progress of those who DO follow the rules and for the health of the community and server. We're all here to enjoy the game, so follow the rules and have fun!

Any issue that may arise which is not explicitly stated in the rules in general-rules or roleplay-rules will be subject to interpretation by the (Owner/Admin) and the existing rules will be used as a foundation for providing moderation in these matters. The rules may be updated at any time to address these unforeseen issues and a post will be made in announcements if that occurs.
An Admin/Mod will manually add you to either the Modded or Vanilla Viking role after whitelisting. You must read all rules and react to the last post in each set, have created a character lore post, and be whitelisted before you can join in-game. You can create a ticket in the Discord to send your Steam or Xbox ID for both the modded and vanilla servers.
